Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP)
Prevent Child Abuse Delaware works with Delaware schools to implement the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program. The Olweus Program is a comprehensive school-wide approach to reducing and preventing bullying behaviors. The program works to improve peer relations and the overall social climate of the school. Prevent Child Abuse Delaware provides a certified Olweus trainer to guide the schools through the process and work with them throughout implementation. The trainer helps the school with key elements of the program including: creating a coordinating committee, training all staff, conducting student questionnaires, garnering parent support, and organizing classroom meetings.
Prevent Child Abuse Delaware is also a member of the Delaware Bullying Prevention Association. Its mission is to reduce and to eliminate occurrences of bullying among Delaware’s children and adolescents in and out of the school setting through prevention and intervention methods and education programs. DBPA collaborated with the Delaware Department of Education to facilitate a state-wide Bullying Prevention Conference and assisted legislators with the creation of the Delaware Anti-Bullying Law.
