Already a Foster Parent?

PCAD provides required training to keep your license active.

When Training is Offered
  • Spring: March – June
  • Fall: October – December
  • Year-round: Self-study and online options
Required Training by Level
Level 1 (Complete ALL of these):
  • The Caregiver’s Voice
  • CPR & First Aid
  • One Development class (choose based on age of children you care for):
    • Infant/Toddler Development
    • Preschool/School Age Development
    • Adolescent Development
  • Plus 5 supplemental hours annually
 
Level 2 (Complete ALL of these):
  • Relating to Primary Families
  • Discipline in Foster Care
  • Psychotropic Medications class
  • Educational training (Working with Schools)
  • Plus 12 supplemental hours annually
 
Level 3:
  • Recognizing and Responding to Sexual Abuse
  • Plus 15 supplemental hours annually
 
Level 4:
  • Depression and Suicide in Children and Youth
  • Plus 15 supplemental hours annually
 
Level 5:
  • Defusing Crisis Safely and Sanely
  • Plus 20 supplemental hours annually

How to Take Classes

Self-Study Classes

  • Tell her which class you want
  • She’ll send you materials
  • Complete and email back your finished work
 
Online Classes

Go to: Fosterparentcollege.com

  • Find approved courses (cost: $15-$30)
  • Take the class
  • Email your certificate to Kellie Turner
  • Get reimbursed up to $60/year per family
