About Us

Mission

Our mission is to provide resources and training to make certain that every child in Delaware has a safe and nurturing childhood, free from abuse and neglect.

Vision

Our vision is to lay the foundation for children’s healthy development and for a stable and productive society by strengthening families and building a world where all children grow up happy, healthy, and prepared to succeed in supportive families and communities.

What We Do

Prevent Child Abuse Delaware (PCAD) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has provided leadership for child abuse prevention activities since 1978.

In addition to providing education and raising awareness about prevention, PCAD offers the following throughout Delaware:

  • Personal safety education programs in age-appropriate classroom presentations with parent/caregiver supporting materials through B.E. S.M.A.R.T. ©.
  • Training specific to home-visiting professionals and home-visiting supervisors that mirror competencies grounded in the National Family Support Competency Framework and reflective supervision strategies.
  • Training specific to prospective and current foster parents to provide competencies that further ensure children placed in their homes receive the care they need.
  • Training for other professionals in early education, K-12 schools, parents/caregivers, and other organizations that serve children and families.
  • Advocacy and public awareness initiatives to promote stakeholder community involvement to strengthen families.
