Prevent Child Abuse Delaware Welcome New Executive Director

Prevent Child Abuse Delaware Welcome New Executive Director

PCAD is thrilled to announce Claudine Wiant as its new Executive Director. Claudine brings more than 30 years of experience in child protection, law enforcement, and prevention programs, making her an exceptional leader for the organization.

Claudine’s work with the Beau Biden Foundation was instrumental in developing the Adult Sexual Misconduct statute, an addendum to Erin’s Law included in the SAFE Package signed into law by Governor Carney last year. This legislation strengthens Erin’s Law by requiring schools to implement policies to prevent boundary-crossing behaviors, protecting children across Delaware.

Before joining PCAD, Claudine served twenty years with the New Castle County Police, retiring as a sergeant. During her tenure, she held roles including family services unit detective, crime prevention supervisor, media coordinator, and mediator and crisis negotiator. After retiring from law enforcement in 2012, she transitioned to higher education, serving as a Title IX Civil Rights Investigator and Clery Compliance Coordinator.

Claudine earned her Master of Science in Administration of Justice in 2014 and her Juris Doctor from Delaware Law School in 2019. She continues to serve the community as a certified Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Delaware. Claudine lives in Chester County, Pennsylvania, with her husband Michael and their three sons.

PCAD Board Chair Brooke Balan shared, “We are excited to have Claudine leading PCAD. She has dedicated 30 years to prevention and child protection, including 20 years in law enforcement and her work as Director of Programs at the Beau Biden Foundation. Claudine’s experience, passion, and leadership make her a perfect fit to guide PCAD into its next chapter.”

Program Manager Kellie Turner added, “Claudine’s commitment to supporting families and keeping children safe is evident in everything she does. As PCAD continues to lead in child abuse prevention, her leadership, expertise, and dedication to collaboration will help the organization grow and positively impact Delaware families.
