Already a Foster Parent?
PCAD provides required training to keep your license active.
When Training is Offered
- Spring: March – June
- Fall: October – December
- Year-round: Self-study and online options
Required Training by Level
Level 1 (Complete ALL of these):
- The Caregiver’s Voice
- CPR & First Aid
- One Development class (choose based on age of children you care for):
- Infant/Toddler Development
- Preschool/School Age Development
- Adolescent Development
- Plus 5 supplemental hours annually
Level 2 (Complete ALL of these):
- Relating to Primary Families
- Discipline in Foster Care
- Psychotropic Medications class
- Educational training (Working with Schools)
- Plus 12 supplemental hours annually
Level 3:
- Recognizing and Responding to Sexual Abuse
- Plus 15 supplemental hours annually
Level 4:
- Depression and Suicide in Children and Youth
- Plus 15 supplemental hours annually
Level 5:
- Defusing Crisis Safely and Sanely
- Plus 20 supplemental hours annually
How to Take Classes
Self-Study Classes

- Tell her which class you want
- She’ll send you materials
- Complete and email back your finished work
Online Classes
Go to: Fosterparentcollege.com
- Find approved courses (cost: $15-$30)
- Take the class
- Email your certificate to Kellie Turner
- Get reimbursed up to $60/year per family
